A season review is an effective way to conclude the season while keeping fans engaged for the next one, ensuring that hopes and dreams remain alive. Reviewing the season offers an honest perspective on how it has unfolded from the club's viewpoint, especially for those who may not fully grasp the intricacies of the club's operations. This brings clarity.
An effective season review includes interviews with the management team, the club captain, and any departing players. It also provides a chance to introduce any new signings who have committed to the club for the next season, allowing supporters to get to know them.
Weekly/Monthly Newsletter
Providing fans with a weekly or monthly newsletter is an excellent strategy to boost revenue in a modest yet significant manner. The purpose of a newsletter is to retain 5 or 6 exclusive items that you wouldn't share on social media or your club's website, if applicable, to entice fans to purchase it for a nominal fee.
Typically, we recommend a charge of £1.49 for these newsletters, as it is bulk purchases that you are aiming for.
We offer various templates and concepts for your club to utilize and can even assist in designing this newsletter on a weekly or monthly basis, provided we have the necessary content.
Increase Club Revenues
In this section, we will provide guidance on the most effective revenue streams your club can utilize to generate essential funds for sustainability.
- Consider hosting entertainment nights such as Bongos bingo, comedy shows, or tribute events. Our recommendation is to set the ticket price at a minimum, just enough to cover expenses. Profits can be made from raffles and auctions if you choose to hold them during the event.
- Race nights serve as an excellent opportunity to either launch or conclude the season. Charge for a horse and jockey on a custom-designed sheet. Additionally, create a humorous program for sale at a ticket price. These programs should be entertaining yet respectful. For instance, you might say that the scrum half could have been a jockey, but he wasn't successful in that role either.
- Organise a 'guess the score' game for a selected match, ideally a high-profile game from The Premiership on Saturday. Charge £1 for two entries and increase the prize week by week if there are no winners. Based on experience, participants often aim for a substantial jackpot. We have templates available if needed.
- Implement a 'Lucky 7' game for seven matches that weekend. Ensure that at least one of the games is your own, then select six additional closely matched games. Participants can enter by predicting 1 for a home win, 2 for an away win, and X for a draw. Templates are available upon request.
- Offer local businesses the opportunity to display banners around your home ground and charge a fee that is beneficial for both the club and the businesses you aim to attract.
- Introduce a first and last try scorer competition at home games. Charge £1 per entry, with £15 for the first try and £14 for the last try, with £14 going to the club.
- Always aim to conduct a raffle after the game, ensuring it is appealing to both teams. Prizes such as a bottle of spirits, a case of beer for the coach ride home, or a food hamper from a local butcher are well-received.
- A sports club lottery can be a valuable source of income. Typically, entries are £1 each, with the club retaining 50p per entry, giving supporters a chance to win impressive jackpots.
